Life cover premiums can vary depending on a person’s age.
Recent analysis indicates that younger adults may have access to different premium rates compared to older age groups. In 2025, data showed that the average monthly life insurance premium for 18- to 24-year-olds was £12, while customers over the age of 55 paid an average of £48.
Over the last five years, premium trends have shown a 5% decrease for younger adults, whereas costs for those over 55 have risen by 38%. The research also indicates that 11% of younger adults have opted to combine life cover with critical illness since 2020, compared to 2% of those over 55.
